Overview

Established in 1979, Blue Ridge Equine Clinic is a full service equine veterinary clinic serving central Virginia.

We are based in Albemarle county between Free Union and Earlysville. Our ambulatory veterinarians serve Albemarle, Orange, Greene, and Nelson counties. Our outpatient and referral clientele come from all over the Mid-Atlantic region.

Blue Ridge Equine Clinic’s mission is to provide the best quality equine veterinary care for our patients and their owners. We are staffed by seven experienced veterinarians, three interns, and an excellent technical and support staff.

Our facility includes a 15-stall main barn, 5-stall isolation barn, complete surgical suite, and an arena.  Our advanced diagnostic services consist of a full service clinical laboratory, digital radiography with four portable and one large hospital unit, advanced digital ultrasonographic equipment, nuclear scintigraphy, and thermography.

We see predominantly sport horses -- foxhunters, hunters/jumpers, dressage and eventers -- and provide services for several Thoroughbred  training facilities.  Our patient clientele also includes Western performance horses and about 200 broodmares.  The composition of the clinic's caseload is approximately 35% surgery, 30% internal medicine, 25% lameness, and 10% reproductive medicine.

Our surgery services cover everything from routine wound care to colic surgery, arthroscopy, upper respiratory procedures and other soft tissue and orthopedic problems. Additionally, there are several specialists that work with us to provide advanced orthopedic, neurologic,  and ophthalmic surgeries.
