Does Your Horse Need To Be Microchipped?

Blue Ridge Equine Clinic Can Now Microchip your Horse

A microchip provides permanent identification and proof of ownership in case your horse is lost or stolen. In addition, microchips are useful and sometimes required for health certificates, breeding operations, and competitions. The microchips are the size of a grain of rice and fit inside a hypodermic needle. They are implanted on the left side of the crest midway between the withers and poll. The implantation is quick and easy; most horses do not find the procedure painful.

We use the Bayer ResQ system and horses can be registered online via Petlink. In 2013, the FEI declared that all horses applying for passports must be microchipped. The Bayer microchips are compliant with current FEI requirements.

For more information please refer to the FEI and AAEP websites or call us today. We will be glad to answer your questions and microchip your horse.
