Rabies Awareness Week: September 26, 2011
Each year the VVMA partners with the Virginia Department of Health to sponsor a statewide rabies awareness effort and this year the week beginning September 26 has been designates as Rabies Awareness Week. Please visit the following links to keep yourself informed and you animals safe.
West Nile Virus in VA: See warning below on the virus from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Please note that BREC's protocol for vaccinating horses for WNV is the following:
"all horses are vaccinated annually against WNV, with horses older than 15 and younger than 5 getting a booster in the fall." We also recommend that horses vaccinated prior to 3/1/11 should be boostered now.
