The Benefits Of Stem Cell Therapy

Stem Cell therapy is a regenerative medicine and treatment that uses stem cells to repair injured or damaged tissues. Stem cells can be collected from the horses own bone marrow or be embryonically derived. These cells are then used to treat a variety of conditions, including tendonitis, ligament injuries, osteoarthritis, meniscal injuries etc. Stem cells can be injected directly into the site that requires treatment.  There, they will develop into new cells of the desired tissue type to help in repair of damaged tissue. Alternatively, there have been some recent reports of using stem cells regionally (regional perfusion) with very good results. Our veterinarians will be glad to discuss how stem cell therapy may help your horse.
